Hello, I’m Theresa
Secondary Spanish teacher, blogger, resource creator, mother and wife. Ever since I can remember I have loved learning about others’ cultures and traditions.
My Spanish education started in high school and continued on through college. I studied abroad during my undergrad and graduate studies. This unique opportunity changed my life. Not only did I gain confidence in speaking Spanish while living in Costa Rica, but this is also where I met my husband. We now spend our summers in Costa Rica living the pura vida lifestyle, while continuing on our journey as a bilingual family.
Three years ago I ditched the traditional textbook and began working on teaching for acquisition. I’ll be honest, it’s not easy breaking old habits. However, research on second language acquisition is pretty clear – it needs to be input driven. Since ditching the textbook, I began creating resources that support this shift and are based on comprehensible input. As I continue to grow as an educator and resource creator, I’m excited to share with you all that I have learned.
Outside of teaching I love reading all things historical fiction and traveling. My goal in life (apart from visiting the highlands in Scotland) is to raise kind humans. I think I’m doing a pretty good job so far.
